Here’s the Deal

  • I’ve never owned a single pair of the best Skechers dad sneakers. I’m finally ready to change that.
  • I’m not sure where to start when it comes to buying Skechers dad shoes.
  • I found 10 options I like that could be my first Skechers dad sneaker. But I’m open to other recommendations.

The Search for My First Skechers Dad Shoes Starts Here

Throughout my 43 years of life (okay, 43.5 — but who’s counting?), I’ve worn sneakers from just about every brand.

In elementary and middle school, I remember rocking a lot of Reebok, Mitre, and even Etonic shoes. During my teenage years, I favored Nike, Adidas (my first foray into dad shoes!), and K-Swiss. And as I’ve gotten older, I’ve continued to wear Nike and Adidas while also working sneaker brands like New Balance, Asics, Puma, Saucony, Under Armour, and others into the mix.

But somehow, I’ve managed to sidestep Skechers completely. It’s not that I have anything against Skechers sneakers. For whatever reason, I just haven’t crossed paths with Skechers yet while shopping for shoes.

I think it’s finally time to change that!

I’ve alluded to being “ready to take the plunge and purchase my first pair of Skechers” in the past. But I’ve never actually ordered Skechers dad shoes. So I’ve decided that I need to put up or shut up when it comes to buying Skechers sneakers for the first time.

Before I do, there’s just one last thing I must figure out: Where do I start? As in, which pair of Skechers will give me a proper introduction to the brand and show me what I can expect from it moving forward?

I’ve put together a list of the 10 Skechers dad sneakers I’m considering and broken down what I like (and, in some cases, don’t like) about each one. But as a Skechers newbie, I’m certainly open to other suggestions, especially from those who love the brand and what it brings.

Check out my top Skechers dad shoe choices below — and let me know where you would start if you were buying your first pair of Skechers right now.

10. Skechers Go Walk Flex “Navy”

Courtesy of Amazon
  • What It Would Cost Me: $84 (buy it)
  • Why I Like It: It’s simple, lightweight, and features air-cooled memory foam insoles, which explains why quite a few shoppers say it makes them feel like they’re “walking on clouds.”
  • How Likely I Am to Choose It: 100% (just not for a few more years!)

My daughter started attending Penn State last year, so I’ve seen a massive uptick in the number of navy blue articles of clothing in my wardrobe. With this in mind, the Skechers Go Walk Flex “Navy” would seemingly be perfect.

But can I get something with just a little more…sizzle? I can almost promise you that I’ll wear these one day, but it’s probably going to be “one day in the distant future,” not “one day next week.”

9. Skechers Energy Afterburn “White/Navy”

Skechers Energy Afterburn "White/Navy”

  • What It Would Cost Me: $86 (buy it)
  • Why I Like It: It has a shock-absorbing midsole, a premium leather and mesh upper, and a classic, no-frills design that won’t ever get old.
  • How Likely I Am to Choose It: About as likely as I am to put on a pair of iconic Air Jordans at my big age.

I respect the pedigree of the Skechers Energy Afterburn “White/Navy,” just like I respect the history and impact of, say, the Air Jordan XI. But that doesn’t mean you’ll catch me wearing either.

I feel slightly too old to wear Jordan XIs and just a little too young to wear the Energy Afterburns. They’re both masterpieces in their own right; I just can’t see either earning a spot in my closet anytime soon.

8. Skechers BOBS Sports Squad Chaos 4 “Black/Black/Gum”

Courtesy of Amazon
  • What It Would Cost Me: $60 (buy it)
  • Why I Like It: It boasts a mostly all-black design, very subtle Skechers branding, and hands-free technology so that I can slip them right on when I need to run out of the house quickly.
  • How Likely I Am to Choose It: These will be the next all-black sneakers that I buy. I just might not need them for a little while.

The Nike LeBron 8 is one of my favorite sneakers of all time. I have an all-black, low-top version that I still wear all the time, even though I’ve had it since 2011.

I just about never wear all-black sneakers otherwise, but I love that I don’t have to put any thought into keeping them clean. Could the Skechers BOBS Sports Squad Chaos 4 “Black/Black/Gum” be their eventual replacement?

I appreciate that I can throw my feet into these — or, more appropriately, slip my feet into them! — without worrying about whether it’s going to rain.

7. Skechers Go Run Consistent 2.0 Empowered “White/Black”

  • What It Would Cost Me: $67 (buy it)
  • Why I Like It: It features an air-cooled memory foam insole, M-Strike technology for runners, and one of the most beautiful designs I’ve ever seen in a Skechers sneaker.
  • How Likely I Am to Choose It: Very likely — if I ever decide to get back to running on a regular basis again.

I wish that I could feel what it’s like to run at 23 or, heck, even 33 again. I can’t imagine going for even the lightest of jogs without experiencing any twinges of pain in my knees, ankles, and other joints.

If I can ever muster up the strength — and mental fortitude — to make my return to running at 43, the Skechers Men’s Go Run Consistent 2.0 Empowered “White/Black” look like the best Skechers dad sneakers for the occasion.

They also appear to be one of the best white dad sneakers from a design perspective. Could that make them the perfect fit for next summer? Hmmm…

6. Skechers Max Cushioning Endeavour “White”

Skechers Max Cushioning Endeavour "White”
Courtesy of Amazon
  • What It Would Cost Me: $84 (buy it)
  • Why I Like It: It one-ups the air-cooled memory foam insoles found in some of the other best Skechers dad sneakers with its springy air-cooled Goga Mat insole. It’s also the ideal all-white Skechers dad sneaker.
  • How Likely I Am to Choose It: I’m honestly surprised I haven’t purchased it already!

Oops, sorry.

Scratch what I just said about buying the Skechers Men’s Go Run Consistent 2.0 Empowered “White/Black” for next summer — and put the Skechers Max Cushioning Endeavour “White” in its place.

I’ll admit that, with one kid in college and the other in preschool, the idea of wearing all-white sneakers is overwhelming. I know they aren’t staying white for long.

But the first day I put them on? Can’t tell me NOTHING.

5. Skechers Go Walk Max Cushioning Flex RAF “White/Charcoal”

Courtesy of Amazon
  • What It Would Cost Me: $75 (buy it)
  • Why I Like It: It comes with Skechers’ Max Cushioning design, an air-cooled Goga Mat insole, and elastic bungee laces. Oh, and it’s also made out of 100% vegan materials, if that’s something that matters to you.
  • How Likely I Am to Choose It: I still can’t decide.

Part of me wants to push the Skechers Go Walk Max Cushioning Flex RAF “White/Charcoal” to the top of my list. Another part of me wants to take it off the list completely.

I’ve struggled to come around to the super-beefy soles found in dad shoes from other brands, such as Brooks and Hoka. I think the same issue is affecting my decision-making skills here, as I just can’t seem to determine which side of the fence I fall on.

Help?

4. Skechers Glide-Step Pro “Gray/Charcoal”

  • What It Would Cost Me: $75 (buy it)
  • Why I Like It: Its eye-catching engineered knit mesh upper, innovative Glide-Step midsole, and hands-free design all stand out.
  • How Likely I Am to Choose It: About 3 times as likely as Penn State is to make the College Football Playoff this fall.

Penn State has just a 22% chance of making the CFP, and I would put the chances of me choosing this dad shoe at right around 75%. I mention Penn State again because I came thisclose to purchasing a pair of these in a “Navy” colorway before the Nittany Lions’ 2025 season fell apart and forced me to second-guess my order.

I’m over the idea of buying these in navy, but I think the Skechers Glide-Step Pro “Gray/Charcoal” sneakers are some of the best Skechers dad shoes done up in gray. Their design is also more complex than the average Skechers dad sneaker.

I could definitely see me scooping up a pair of these dad sneakers soon.

3. Skechers Glide-Step Vortex Avalin “Gray/Navy”

Courtesy of Amazon
  • What It Would Cost Me: $75 (buy it)
  • Why I Like It: It has an aesthetically pleasing mesh upper, an air-cooled Goga Mat insole (which I’m apparently now obsessed with!), and a basic yet effective design.
  • How Likely I Am to Choose It: It might be more likely to happen than I even realize.

If you told me I had to pick one of the best Skechers dad sneakers to buy in the next 30 seconds, there’s a good chance the Skechers Glide-Step Vortex Avalin “Gray/Navy” would get added to my cart almost instantly.

Is it the most exciting Skechers dad sneaker? No.

Is it the most technologically advanced? No.

Is it at least the cheapest? Again, no.

However, what this Skechers dad shoe has is a timeless design that makes it more versatile than competing options. I would have zero complaints about putting a pair into my closet.

2. Skechers Aero Burst “Black/White”

Skechers Aero Burst "Black/White”
Courtesy of Amazon
  • What It Would Cost Me: $165 (buy it)
  • Why I Like It: It boasts a bold, boundary-pushing design, Hyper Burst Ice cushioning (step aside, air-cooled memory foam!), and a carbon-infused H-plate for surefire stability and support.
  • How Likely I Am to Choose It: Don’t let this dad shoe go on sale for 40% or more, or I’ll buy every pair Skechers has.

I don’t like paying over $100 for any sneakers, let alone dad sneakers and, in this case, Skechers dad sneakers. Even if these truly are the best Skechers dad shoes, three figures is too rich for my blood.

But if the Skechers Aero Burst “Black/White” ever happens to hit the “Sale” section and has its price drop below $100, I’d love to take it out for a test drive. I sense it might convince me to get back to maintaining some semblance of a running routine.

Er, OK, maybe just a walking routine, but still…

1. Skechers Max Cushioning Endeavour Kauska “White/Black”

Skechers Max Cushioning Endeavour Kauska "White/Black”
Courtesy of Amazon
  • What It Would Cost Me: $85 (buy it)
  • Why I Like It: It features an enticing black-and-white colorway, a Max Cushioning design, an air-cooled Goga Mat insole, and Natural Rocker Technology (NRT) to make running more efficiently a breeze.
  • How Likely I Am to Choose It: It’s already in my cart.

To me, the Skechers Max Cushioning Endeavour Kauska “White/Black” combines everything that Skechers is doing right into one dad shoe that’s great for everything from running 5Ks to running to the grocery store.

I love that the midsole is thick but not too thick. I also love that it’s a white shoe without being too white and potentially making me nervous every time I put it on. And I love that it’s chock-full of next-level technological touches without costing a fortune.

I could probably do without the big “SKECHERS” branding across the back on its heel. But even that doesn’t bother me as much as it would with some of the other best Skechers dad sneakers.

This is my winner.
